How SkyFuns keeps every shared flight within the regulations.
Before a listing appears on SkyFuns, we review that it aligns in accordance with Article 6(4a) of Commission Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 and the applicable Part-NCO requirements:
"cost-sharing flight are allowed by private individuals on non-complex aircrafts, on the condition that the direct cost is shared by all the occupants of the aircraft, pilot included and the number of persons sharing the direct costs is limited to six persons."
Legal scope
Marketplace role and legal responsibilities
Aviation law may vary by country. SkyFuns operates in alignment with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) framework. All pilots are responsible for complying with the applicable national aviation authority (CAA) regulations in their country of operation.
SkyFuns is an online marketplace that connects private pilots and passengers who wish to share the direct costs of a private flight.
- Direct costs - are only the costs that are directly attributable to that specific flight as: Fuel and oil for the flight, airport/landing/handling fees, air navigation charges and aircraft rental (if the aircraft is rented). Direct costs do not and shall not include aircraft ownership expenses (such as purchase, maintenance, insurance, or hangarage), pilot remuneration, or any fixed or indirect operational costs.
SkyFuns does not operate aircraft, provide air transport services, or act as an air carrier. All flights are conducted by private pilots acting in a non-commercial environment under the European cost-sharing rules defined in Commission Regulation (EU) No 965/2012.
The pilot in command is solely responsible for the safe operation of the flight and for complying with all applicable aviation regulations.
Data protection (GDPR)
Documents uploaded by pilots contain personal data and are processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The platform collects and stores these documents solely for safety, compliance, and verification purposes. Documents are:
- stored securely
- accessible only to authorized personnel
- retained only as long as necessary
- deleted upon request in accordance with applicable data protection laws
Workflow
From account creation to scheduled flight
Here is how the compliance workflow supports each step before a passenger ever boards.

Operational review
Once your documents are reviewed, you can create and publish flights for future passengers.
Pre-flight sign-off
Within 24 hours of departure, you should confirm the flight with your passenger(s) regarding weather, operational issues and mass and balance planning.

FAQs
Common regulatory questions
Aviation requirements can differ from one country to another. Start with these clarifications before publishing flights.
What happens if a document expires?
Flights are automatically hidden from search if a key document expires. The PIC receives alerts at D-30, D-14, and D-2. Once updated, the support team may revalidate within one business day.
Can we operate outside Europe?
Skyfuns operates exclusively within Europe, where private pilots and passengers may share flight costs under specific legal conditions. Outside Europe, many countries either prohibit cost-sharing flights or strictly regulate them under commercial aviation rules requiring proper licenses and certifications, so such flights are not supported or advertised on our platform. Because aviation laws vary widely, Skyfuns only lists flights that depart, arrive, or operate within Europe, and does not allow the promotion or organization of cost-sharing flights outside the region. Pilots are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws in the countries of departure, arrival, and overflight, and the platform cannot be used to facilitate any illegal operations.
How is passenger data protected?
Access to manifests is limited to vetted staff. All downloads are logged, encrypted at rest, and deleted upon user request per GDPR.
